AGC opposes Abdul Azeez's bid to challenge IRB tax settlement cancellation
The Attorney General's Chambers has objected to former Tabung Haji chairman Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim's application for leave to challenge the IRB's cancellation of a RM4.8 million tax settlement. The AGC told the High Court in Kuala Lumpur that the application is premature because the IRB's Aug 7 letter did not raise a fresh assessment or demand any additional payment. Abdul Azeez is seeking to quash the cancellation of the Feb 9, 2022 agreement and the March 22, 2022 composite assessment notice covering assessment years 2011 to 2020.

Noor Atirah and husband killed in Sungai Buloh road crash buried in single grave
Noor Atirah Yacob, 32, and her husband Mohd Zulilazwan Zulkifli, 32, died after their motorcycle is believed to have lost control and collided with a lorry on Jalan Sungai Buloh near the Sierramas slip road in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The couple were buried in a single grave at the Kampung Neting Islamic cemetery in Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat, Kelantan, leaving behind their six-year-old son Ian Hijazi.

Ramanan urges police probe into temple statue vandalism near NPE

Three family members killed, one hurt as MPV rams lorry in Tanjong Karang
Three members of a family died and a 10-year-old boy was seriously injured when their Proton Exora crashed into the back of a 20-tonne lorry on Jalan Raja Muda Musa heading towards Tanjong Karang at about 1.30pm. The dead were a 44-year-old woman, an eight-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. Firefighters from the Tanjong Karang station freed the four trapped victims and handed them to police.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Fadlun Mak Ujud said the centralised bazaar costs about RM1.5 million and lot rental is set at RM400, the same as the Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars.

Selangor MB to meet education dept over haze, school closures

Abdul Azeez seeks judicial review of RM4.8m tax settlement cancellation
Former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim has applied to the Kuala Lumpur High Court for leave to challenge LHDN's cancellation of a RM4.8 million tax settlement he claims was fully paid. He names the Director-General of Inland Revenue as sole respondent and seeks an order compelling LHDN to honour the February 9, 2022 agreement.

KL RTD seizes 47 vehicles, detains 58 in Op Pewa crackdown on foreign drivers
Kuala Lumpur RTD's Op Pewa operation in Sentul detained 58 people and seized 47 vehicles, mostly foreign nationals driving without valid licences. An employer confronted officers over his Bangladeshi worker's detention but left after being told the worker had no licence. Officers issued 273 notices for offences including expired road tax and no insurance.

Agong confers police gallantry awards on 159 recipients at Istana Negara

King receives IPCC briefing on police misconduct complaints
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim received IPCC chairman Datuk Zolkopli Dahalan and deputy chairman Martina@Kartina Zamhari at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur. The King was briefed on the commission's role, functions and powers, along with complaint statistics and the status of resolved cases. The IPCC has operated since 1 November 2023 to monitor and investigate complaints of misconduct by PDRM personnel.

Witness: RM350,000 cash handed to Sayed Amir at Yayasan Tanah Aku office
A prosecution witness told the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur that he handed RM350,000 in cash to Sayed Amir Muzzakkir at the Yayasan Tanah Aku office in Publika in December 2020. The money was allegedly a five per cent commission for helping a company secure a PDRM project tender. Sayed Amir faces three corruption charges and the trial continues on 11 November.

IGEM 2026 and KLSS 2026 at KLCC target RM22.5bil in deals
IGEM 2026 and the Kuala Lumpur Sustainability Summit (KLSS) 2026 will run at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 7 to 9 October, targeting RM22.5 billion in potential deals and 60,000 visitors from 50 countries.
